Version 9.4 – New Plugins from Universal Audio
Universal Audio has updated their software to version 9.4. Included in the update are four new plug-ins: Dytronics Tri-Stereo Chorus from Softube, Gallien-Kruger 800 RB Bass Amp from Brainworx, and the Ocean Way Microphone Collection developed by Townsend Labs. And last but not least, the Empirical Labs EL8 Distressor Compressor plug-in.
Dytronics Tri-Stereo Chorus
Developed by Softube for UAD hardware, this plug-in is a faithful recreation of the 80’s Dytronics CS-5 Tri-Stereo hardware unit. Three independent bucket-brigade delay lines make this a unique sounding chorus. Controlling the center, left, and right lines separately, combined with the unit’s modulation parameters, allows for the creation of complex, rich swirling analog style chorus textures.
The price is $199, with a special upgrade offer of $99 for owners of the UAD Dytronics Cyclosonic Panner plug-in.

Gallien-Kruger 800RB Bass Amp
This plug-in, developed by Brainworx for UAD hardware and Apollo interfaces, is based on the original hardware unit, which was renowned for its bi-amp architecture, and DI output. This plug-in recreates the bi-amp features by providing two different power amps. One for the lows, and one for the highs. There is an adjustable crossover, along with a master volume for each amp. It also includes a choice of recording chains with cabinet/microphone combos for each of the 800RB’s two amplifiers. Voicing filters and a 4-band EQ round things out nicely.
This plug-in is priced at $149.
