Free Book: “Logic Pro X – 10.1 New Features”

Logic Pro X – 10.1 New Features” is the new GEM book (86 pages) that I released as a free PDF and iBooks download. I list all the new features and changes of the new Logic version and gave them the “Graphically Enhanced Manuals” treatment. That means I explain how the new stuff works with graphics and diagrams. In addition, it includes lots of new hidden features and changes that are not mentioned in the official Release Notes.

Logic Pro X v10.1

The latest update v10.1 for Logic Pro X was massive with an overwhelming list of new features, changes, and bug fixes. However, there was one important thing missing: The documentation on how all that stuff works. The official User Guide has been updated in the meantime, but as usual, the explanations are rather sparse. On top of that, v10.1 has even more new features and changes that were not even mentioned at all.

This book, “Logic Pro – 10.1 New Features“, is not only the first to provide the missing information of documented and undocumented features, it contains in-depth explanations for those changes written in my unique “Graphically Enhanced Manuals” style.

(did I mention that this book is free?)

Three Formats
The book is available in three formats:
* PDF: Available as a download link from my website
* Interactive Multi-Touch iBook: Only available on Apple’s iBooks Store
* Printed Book:The paperback book is available on Amazon (this format is not free)

All the links are available on my website.

Updated Books
I will update both of my Logic books “Logic Pro X – How it Works” and “Logic Pro X – The Details” with the new changes and features of v10.1. These updated books (available end of February) will be free for customers who bought the PDF or the iBooks version.

The Visual Approach

My unique concept of explaining features and concepts with easy to understand diagrams makes it possible for Logic Pro X users of all levels to learn its features – no matter how easy or advanced.

The GEM Advantage

Graphics, Graphics, Graphics
Every feature and concept is explained with rich graphics and illustrations that are not found in any other book or documentation. These are not just a few screenshots with arrows in it. I take the time to create unique diagrams to illustrate the concepts and workflows.

Knowledge and Understanding
The purpose of my manuals is to provide the reader with the knowledge and understanding of an app that is much more valuable than just listing and explaining a set of features.

For any given feature, I list every available command so you can decide which one to use in your workflow. Some of the information is not even found in the app’s documentation.

For Beginners and Advanced Users
The graphical approach makes my manuals easy to understand for beginners, but still, the wealth of information and details provide plenty of material, even for the most advanced user.

Three formats
No other manual is available in all three formats: PDF (from my website), interactive multi-touch iBooks (on Apple’s iBooks Store), and printed book (on Amazon).

Interactive iBooks
No other manual is available in the enhanced iBook format. I include an extensive glossary, also with additional graphics. Every term throughout the content of the iBook is linked to the glossary term that lets you popup a window with the explanations without leaving the page you are currently reading. Every term lists all the entries in the book where it is used and links to other related terms.

No other manual stays up to date with the current version of the app. Due to the rapid update cycles of applications nowadays, most books by major publishers are already outdated by the time they are released. I constantly update my books to stay current with the latest version of an app.

Free Updates (pdf, iBook only)
No other manual provides free updates, I do. Whenever I update a book, I email a free download link of the PDF file to current customers. iBooks customers will receive an automatic update notification and 24 hours after a new update, the printed book will be available on Amazon. They are print-on-demand books, which means, whenever you order a book on Amazon, you get the most recent version and not an outdated one sitting in a publisher’s warehouse.

    Hi Edgar.
Thanx a lot for theses great tips .
    I’ve notice a little mistake page 100 :
“Create Tracks For Selected Channel Strip” is under Mixer: Local Menu -> Option.
    Not -> View.
Great fiture since I use a lot RMX Spectrasonic in multi out, and it was a pain on LP9 .

    Thanks for that correction.

There is also another typo on page 33
The Key Commands to enable/disable all Mute or Solo Buttons is “opt+click” and not “ctr+click”
