How To Temporarily Disable Notification Center in Mavericks
If you’re a Logic Pro user, you’ll likely want to hear about version updates that became available in the App Store. The Notification Center in OS X Mavericks takes care of this, but the options it gives you once an update is out are seriously annoying (Restart, or Later?). Here’s how to temporarily disable Notification Center in Mavericks while you’re focusing on your music, so you won’t be disturbed by any messages at all.
Notification Center – Do Not Disturb Mode
The easiest way to temporarily disable Notification Center in Mavericks, is to turn on Do Not Disturb mode, by option-clicking on the Notification Center icon in the top-right corner of your Mac’s desktop. In the picture below, note that the icon has a lighter shade of grey. Do Not Disturb mode is now enabled:
Note that Do Not Disturb mode will turn itself off the following day 🙂
Notification Center – System Preferences
In the System Preferences of your Mac, you have a little more control over the Do Not Disturb Mode mentioned above. Here, you can schedule it. Scheduling can be used to effectively disable Notification Center at all times, by setting a 23-hour, 59-minute time frame.
